The Moment

The summer fades and the leaves start to turn
The time is here for which we've all yearned.
Lemonade at Toomers or some Mama's Love
Orange and Blue sunsets bring hope from above.
The RVs roll in and the tailgaters yell
The excitement on the plains is starting to swell.
Banners and flags are put up with great care
And the smell of Bar-be-que wafts through the air.
Everyone's dressed in Orange and in blue
Waiting with anticipation of the dreams of anew.
Two hours to go, people are starting to talk
As they fill the streets for our beloved Tiger Walk.
Led by past heroes, Aubie and famous alums
New warriors march proudly hoping greatness will come.
They file down Donahue as cheers fill the air
To the concrete cathedral we call Jordan-Hare.
We follow them in and head for our seats
Catch up with old friends and enjoy tasty treats.
We watch with great pleasure the videos that roll by
Of our past great heores like Shug, Bo and Dye.
Our attention is drawn to the seats high above
And watch with amazement the tradition we love.
The Eagle soars high and encircles the field
Always to conquer, Never to yield.
20 minutes to go and the energy builds
the fans flood in and the stadium fills.
The Drum Major struts out, gives the fans a salute
Then the band quick times out, horns, drums and flutes.
They march proudly downfield playing our favorites
While the fans yell and cheer.
The wait is nearly over
As The Moment draws near.
Only minutes to go now
As the band stands and plays.
The minutes roll by
But they seem more like days.
Finally the Moment we've dreamed of is finally here
our fans burst with joy and our enemies surely fear.
Smoke fills the air and the sparks start to fly
Fans cheer and scream and some even cry.
The young warriors come out
Marching proudly arm in arm
We pray for their victory
And befall them no harm.
The plans have been laid
And the stage has been set.
For the greatest of victories
We've seen as of yet.
So cheer for the Tigers
As to victory they'll steer.
The Moment has come
It's finally here.
