Have any of you ever met Dye?  I did, 21 years ago.  He was still our head coach at the time, but he would have been lucky to tell you what room he was in.  He was used up.  You could look in his eyes and see it was over.  That was a few months before the 1992 season.  As that season progressed, it became clear he wasn't running the team and that he couldn't even remember the players names.

There is no way that man is influencing the day to day operations of Auburn football.  I'll bet he parks in a handicapped space, and has to take the elevator when he comes to visit. 

He may have some things to say about certain topics, but no way is he running the program up there.  He can hardly get his lines right for the one or two commercials he makes.

All that being said, it makes perfect sense that Dye would blast Moseley.  Dye always wanted a running QB, and he wanted a humble QB.  He kept his QB's firmly in the mindset of afraid to lose.  He did not want any of his QB's to be a leader or to have confidence to make plays.  If you think Chizik meddles in the offense, you should see how much Dye meddled in offenses.  Someone like a Clint Moseley who has an ego and a lot of confidence, even if he isn't the most talented QB in the world, made Dye's skin crawl. 

Also, Dye is old school in more ways than one.  He comes from the days when coaching was a fraternity, and the fraternity did everything it could to look out for each other.  Someone like Steve Spurrier infuriated Dye.  That is why he will never say that another coach should be fired.  With him, you heard "young team" every year, and fans were always too impatient, and no one knew anything about football but the coaches and the players.  He made all that clear, over and over again.

I think the only people listening to Dye talk about football these days are listening to the Finebaum show.
