Yep, and its first down. You can run the ball a few times and then kick it. His kicker had already kicked a 51 yarder? The sack killed them. The long pass
at the end was just pure luck..

52 yards is the kicker's career long. I can't find fault with the play calling there. Time management at the end just killed them though.

I agree with Buckeye. The chance of hitting a 52 yard field goal is pretty low, so the play call was right. It was the clock management that made no sense at all. Why they didn't call a timeout when the had 30+ seconds is beyond me. That's the time to call it and set up the next 2 plays. Not only do you add 8+ seconds to get another play off but you have everyone on the same page to set up for a field goal. just go for the 1st down with a pass. If you make the 1st down, the clock stops to move the ball and you can put your FG team on the field. If you don't make the 1st down, the clock stops on the incomplete pass and you can put your FG team on the field. The LSU coaching staff had no plan except to get 1 play off.
