The Republicans will continue to lose until they radically reverse their trend towards Big Government and Big Spending.

They did not learn the lesson of 2008. No one wanted what John McCain was selling, they wanted what Sarah Palin was selling. John McCain had mediocre success until two events happened: the Saddleback event (I think it was Saddleback, it might have been Saddleridge) where McCain spoke very plainly and unequivocably in conservative terms and where Obama stumbled with his habbit of trying to use buzzwords and cliches to answer questions, and the selection and following actions by Sarah Palin.

Palin spoke in terms of smaller government and greater individual and economic freedom, words that "average" Republican was dying to hear after 8 years of George Bush. McCain doesn't believe in those things, though he said them at Saddleback to win support, his actions are louder than his words. Nobobdy wanted what John McCain was selling, they wanted what Sarah Palin was selling. Sarah went off messsage. For this, she was punished by both the Republicans and the Democrats.

The winning formula is small government, kick the Washington Insiders out, and fiscal responsibility which means lower spending and lower taxes.

The Washington Insiders control both parties. The Republican arm of the Washington Insiders is unwilling to sacrifice its Big Government power base, the Democratic arm of the Washington Insiders is struggling to cement its Big Government power base. The winning formula at the moment is small government, less spending, less programs, less taxes, more economic freedom. That is actually compatible with either party.

Maybe Sarah Palin has seen the hopelessness of pursuing a small government, individual freedom agenda within the existing Republican Party, and has decided to do what this country desparately needs, try to ignite a third party, a real conservative party, and by conservative, I mean limited government. That is my hope.

The time is right. The method is for a third party to get just as mean as the two parties that exist: there are plenty of John Edwards and Newt Gingriches cheating on wives with cancer in both parties, there are plenty of Gary Condits cheating on mentally ill wives, Harry Reid real estate deals, Nancy Pelosi minimum wage compromises, and Obama/Rezko real estate deals to expose. No one amongst Mainstream America likes that kind of stuff, and that's the way to bring them down. The Democrats will stop short of doing it wholesale to the Republicans because they know the Republicans will retaliate, and vice versa. It's a lot like nerve gas in World War II: the Germans wouldn't use it because they knew the British would use it on them if they did. Same goes for the press. They are even more vulnerable, just ask Dan Rather.

A grass roots, internet based, www.showthedirt.org type effort will succeed with the right leadership. It's out there for the prominent, uniting, fund raising politician that wants to do it.

But personally, If I was someone of true conservative beliefs (if that truly exists) Would I want someone like Palin as the face of my party? Do you?

If she can get the job done and promote a movement towards smaller government: yes. I really don't care what she looks like and how she acts, I care about the results she may be able to generate. Obviously, in the last election cycle, no record of accomplishment or experience is required for the Office of the President, simply the right focus words, manipulation through the press, henchmen in the form of these so called "activists" that are paid off with taxpayer money by the victor, and other such abuses of power are the way the office is won these days.

I never said I want Sarah Palin for president, I said that the public wasn't interested in what John McCain was selling, it is interested in what Sarah Palin was selling.

Obviously, if Barack Obama can be president, a freshman senator who's never had any leadership responsibility and never held a real job in his life, then there are no stringent criteria for the position.

However, I do not want Sarah Palin for president. I want a popular, grass roots movement for smaller government that can gain enough backing to bring the Washington insider crowd and the national press machine to its knees. I want no more Robert Byrd, Ted Kennedy, John McCain, Barney Frank, or even Tom Delay. All of these old farts never leave the beltway and, whatever their intentions when they go there, turn into beltwary insiders. I don't want them to have that kind of power anymore.

The best way? States Rights.

IF Sarah Palin has made the decision to "go in another direction", I hope it is in the direction of trying to establish a popular movement to try to reduce the power of the Federal Government and resturn it's jurisdiction to Constitutionally defined limits.

I think Sarah Palin could be sucessful in promoting such a movement. The first thing she'd have to do is attack the core of the Republican leadership in Washington, because, unfortunately, that's where the problem is. All she's got to do is treat them the way they treated her.

If her ambitions at this point are to be president, well, she wouldn't be my first choice, but, I see know reason why she's not at least as qualified as the man in office now. After all, their greatest qualifications are the same: they both look good and they both make good speaches to their target audiences.
