Never have I doubted their musical ability, skill, or brilliance...However, I just cant stand Eddie Veter. His voice is shrilling and unbearable moaning.

One of the first things I did after moving to Seattle was to go to see PJ at the Gorge. It is the coolest ampitheatre I have ever been to & the show
ROCKED. On an aside, I understand where you're coming form on his voice, I like it, but personal tastes differ. Regardless, Vedder is really supportive of
up & coming artists, smaller groups & local bands here. Anything to do with culture or music in town & he'll likely be for it & help out.
2 stories: 1) Friend I work with was out at this hole in the wall venue in W. Seattle & some dude walked by outside & saw her buddies band inside playing. He came in, sat down in the back & listened for the whole set really getting into it. After, one of the band went to thank him for listening & realized it was Vedder. EV told him they were on & bought a CD, told him to kep at it and they sounded good. 2) Another show I went to was Ben Harper. Now Harper doesnt't necessarily need any support, he's pretty good & has an established rep. Still, at the end of his show who else but Eddie Vedder walks out on stage & helps him finish one of his own (Harper's) song. Then they did a cover I don't remember. Big fan of PJ & EV myself. Also a grunge freak, guess I moved to the right place.

Back in the day... when we wanted to poke fun at folks who could not sing (no soul havin')... we sang just like that. We'd imitate that exact style.
And we'd fall about the place laughing our ass off at those of us who could actually be the most "soul-less."
But these days what we once considered totally (and I mean completely) useless is heralded as genius. To me, it's much like Bush being a deep thinking philosopher.
