We should have a helluva QB competition; and I think both Chris and Kodi will see significant playing time.

That coupled with the spring he had & his dual threatedness (is that even a word ) makes him my favorite. I'd rather we suffer a few more mistakes early & give Kodi the start over Todd. Todd hasn't played as a strarter or for a full season and not against the kind of talent & D that Burns has seen. Burns also is more familiar with the talent around him in a game setting. Regardless, we're in for an interesting spring. I also just decided to refer to Kodi Burns as "His Dual Threatedness"

And maybe Neil tosses the ball some also? That's like 400 7 on 7 plays a day. Stang, this passing offense and defense are getting quite a few more reps than they normally get in volunteer practices. Looking like a special year coming down the pike. Its been awhile for me since HS ball, but some of you coaches on this board, isn't that a lot of reps? New rules in Tennessee this year say we cant do anything but lift weights and condition until after our state mandated 2 week dead period (which ends Sunday!!!). Afterwards, we can do pretty much whatever we want. We will throw 7 on 7 everyday and are competing in a 7 on 7 tourney a week from Saturday. Adding all those up, we are nowhere close to throwing 400 balls, and we run the Franklin offense!

He has accuracy, but can he manage a game? Kodi was not great last year, but he came in against a good defense and managed Auburn to two scores using the same 5 plays. Plus he can scramble. It irked me at A-Day when Todd turned a 1st and goal at the 1 into a 4th and goal at the 22. He shoulda been smart enough and thrown it away. So yeah he has a good arm, but can he play against a top 10 defense and win. And a big question can he stay healthy. Lastly he knows the system but Cox and co learned it in two weeks and won with it. So after 2 a days I think Burns overall package will win out.

And there will be times, Franklin said, when Auburn lines up with two backs and plays the old-fashioned way. Much will depend on whether sophomore Kodi Burns or junior Chris Todd is in the game. "We are going to do it some," Franklin said. "It depends on who is the quarterback. If Kodi is in the game, getting in the I is a disadvantage because you are taking away the threat of one of your best runners. If Chris is the quarterback, I think you'll see more I stuff. If we have 80 snaps in a game, I think you'll see 5-15 snaps under center..."

It's pretty clear that coach Franklin intends on playing both Chris Todd and Kodi Burns. Different formations used depending on who the QB is. Another CTF quote. "If we started tomorrow, they would both play," Franklin said. "We don't start tomorrow. It's a possibility that one of them jumps tremendously or one of them drops. I've had good conversations with both of them together. Instead of doing a lot of stuff privately, I bring them in together. If it works out where they are both the quarterback, they need to be one, so I have one voice for both of them."
