Do yall think all these guys are a lock for the starting position? If not who will get challenged and by whom?

Coleman and Marks are going to have a crazy year. But yes, I see all 4 of them locking down their positions. Can't wait to see how the players will fair
with CR and his coaching style.

I'm interested in seeing if Tex Doolittle can take a starting DT spot. He did get a 6th year, and hopefully is healthy. I don't know if that would
move Marks back to end, or take Ricks spot though. I can't blame him, because he did get drafted in the 2nd or 3rd round, but I really wish Sims had
stayed another year.

I think could challenge Ricks for playing time and possibly the starting spot. Competition is good, it is the capitalist creed. Which is why I should have had
two apprentices instead of focusing on Vader, anyway, I digress. Also, there is a kid from Opelika that plays some hardnosed football.
Also, possible to see Raven Gray, the JUCO transfer challenge Goggans at the DE position. |

DE rotation | ||

I see a rotation of Coleman, Gray, Goggens, and Antoine Carter (who is going to be a monster pass-rusher). All these guys are fast and quick off the line. My
only worry is their run stopping ability, they are all fast but not to big.

I think Derrick Lykes will be the surprise of Summer. It may take a redshirt year, but there's something about that kid that makes me think he'll be a
good one.

I think Goggans' starting job is still up in the air. Raven Gray will start if he is fully recovered from his JUCO injury, IMO. AJ Green and Carter had
really strong springs, I believe, so they will probably see a good amount of playing time. It's great to see a lot of depth at DE. I wish I could say the
same about DT.

I think Raven Gray will start opposite Coleman and Marks will start at DT with Marks. I think that Blanc Ricks will rotate at DT to keep them fresh. With
goggans and carter rotating at DE. This could be a great stength next year or a weakness if injuries occur

Gray and Doolittle will battle it out for some spot in the lineup.

Doolittle can make it back & compete. He was good before the injury. Until 2 a days plays out I think those 4 are the safe bet. Gray may be able to work
his way in but I don't expect to see much of him till mid season. I do think with Coleman & Marks are gonna be nasty & Goggans looks to be ready to
be a real force in the middle.

I don't think Doolittle will have to much trouble breaking into the lineup. Do yall?

Myxtplkn: The hardnosed kid from Opelika that you were referring to is Zach Clayton. He had a good Spring and will see considerable playing time this Fall.

Orange and Blue Clayton was the name that escaped me, only remembered he was from Opelika.
I think we are loaded at DE. All those DE's mentioned and about 5 newbies coming in for increased depth. The depth at DT is what worries me. Especially considering most of our DEs are built more for speed than size. DTs Marks is solid Ricks appears to be the real deal but not a lot of experience Blanc and Clayton could be serviceable backups and lets hope one or both give us an upside surprise. Doolittle was a solid backup last August when he went down with Achilles heel thing. Hopefully, he is fully recovered and in the same playing shape he was last year. That's a big IF and a lot to hope for. Anyone with any inside scoop on DooLittle? You know, scratch my head, have we thought about moving that 5 star DT recruit, Bart Eddins, back to defense? He is #3 right guard. Seems he could have an impact on a thin DL. Out of the six or 7 DL recruits in the 2008 class only one F Smooth was a true DT(big man in the middle) and I don't think he qualified. The rest were DEs. If we still had Sims, I don't think there would be any potential DL issues. |

Who do you think will take Josh Thompson's place? I think his contributions quietly went unheralded for the most part. He always had to be double
teamed. What's the depth chart at that position? Wasn't Tez his back-up until he got hurt?

are in Thompson's spot.

If Lykes has qualified | ||
|
And it looks like he has, I expect him to turn heads this Summer. 6'4 290, and runs in the 4.7 to 4.8 range, and add to that the kid should have a chip on
his shoulder, and I think we just got playable depth on the d-line.
