Mario Fannin is perfect for the Spread |
Lead | |
|
With his versatility and speed he could one of the best Offensive threats in the SEC if not the country. He's able to be a RB and a WR in the slot and the
Coaches are talking about running plays for him at QB. That's saying a lot about the confidence the Coaches have in this young man. With most of our tough
games at home, Fannin could be the difference maker and the biggest play maker to take this team over the top in 2008. WDE

Didn't he have fumblitous last year? If he can correct that then yes, he will be a force to be reckoned with. If not then he will see a lot of bench time
regardless of his talent. Lets hope he has taken care of that problem.

Rob - Fannin did have a case of fumble-itus which is why he got far less playing time. I disagree from the article that Fannin needs to be in the open field in order to flourish. While he would will certainly benefit from this, Fannin appeared to be very physical when pounding the ball up the middle. I believe that if he didn't have the issues with holding on to the ball, he would have been the number one tailback through out the season. I am excited to see what he's going to do this year. We haven't had a player of his versatility in a long time. Ronnie Brown was probably the closest. |

Anyone know what kind of blocking skills he has?

From what I understand he's almost the complete package. A pretty good blocker too. Yes he fumbled a couple of times last season. But our senior QB turned
the ball over more times than everyone combined last season. So we shouldn't be too quick to judge our young stud RB. Just turn him loose with the rest of
the arsenal we have. Play hard, have fun and lay it all out on the line. Warrr Eagle!!!!

Super Mario will have a breakout year......
RB, WR, QB..... It does NOT matter where they put him.... he will decoy 1/2 the time and make plays the other 1/2......

3rd down and 9 the ball is on the LSU 43 yard line with 1:21 seconds left in the game. Burns lines up in shotgun with Fannin along side him with a 4 wide setup
2 recievers split either side. Fannin goes into motion "Theres the snap to Burns". He throws a quick out to Tim Hawthorne who shovels the ball back
to Fannin. He has daylight down the sideline. Hes got something....! Touchdown Auburn... I am a huge Mario Fan and I think he has a tremendous upside. Only a
sophmore (redshirt).

nice play calling Hubbs.......
That would be using Super Mario twice on that play.... motion = decoy, shovel = misdirection.... what a play.......

Lets hope Mario has better luck at hold on to the football this year. I never really understood why he had so much trouble in 07.
