A team player | ||

Oh I have nothing against DeRon asking to me moved to DB or LB. He's a team player and that is what counts the most.

I believe DeRon would be a very good WR or even a TE. He's already a good size for a tight end. |

BUT | ||

Although we dont have the best talents at WR we are set there this year and we are weak and thin at the Safety position plus this is the position where he can get the most playing time at. I think it was a great move and that it will pay off sooner than later |

just and idea but do you think that having a db sent home had anything to do with his decision?

@Jmassie.. I was thinking the same thing. I do think that Ryan Williams will straighten things out, and be back before Fall to contribute to the team. IMO Furr
just wants to play. He saw he would have a small chance at QB the next few years, and decided he just wants to play.

DB sent home | ||

could have been the tipping point if deciding between moving to defense or to wide receiver. I'm sure someone as atheletic as DeRon had options.

We are plenty talented at WR...
|
just need to start develpoing the talent. Slaughter, Billings, and Hawthorne are all going to have to make the maturity leap. Q. Carr will have a good year and
Robert (quit the team) Dunn looked good in this offense. We have plenty of talent comming in in PPL and HA that Furr could go DB. Plus its not like he
couldn't get a few reps at WR as well.

This is about getting your best athletes on the field, similar to Marks move to DE last year so he & sims could be on the field together, even though at DE
marks was out of his true position.
It speaks volumes about Furr's talent. Not sure if RW's situation really applies here, as RW is a corner & DF is moving to safety. Depth issues at safety haven't been a secret for a while now & the coaches have been saying since February that they will be counting on some of the players from the 08 class to be part of the safety rotation this fall. Unless RW gets it together they'll be counting on another true frosh to participate in the corner rotation. |

With RW | ||
|
Powers and McFadden at corner, if need be for depth reasons Savage could always move make to safety. Without RW, Savage becomes more locked into filling a
corner role and less likely to be move back to safety if an injury were to occur to one of the starters, McNeil/Etheridge. So the overall depth is less.
Seems this may make the opportunity for playing earlier at DB more appealing than going into the WR spot, which as mentioned by MR BULL is fairly deep, at
least as compared to the DB position.
Or then again no speculation, Furr would rather hit people rather than be hit. Makes sense to me.

How about returning punts. When's the last time we had a really effective punt returner?

We had some good punt returns last year.. a couple were 1 tackle away from going all the way.

Any update on his status? When will he return to the Plains? This summer?

He probably realized he can play sooner at safety. He has the physical ability to play immediately. In our defense, we have to cycle the d-backs in and out so
this makes perfect sense. Gotta say with Furr's athleticism and size, he's gonna be a monster at safety. Woaaa Nellie!!

I would like to see him at CB. Be nice to see him jam at WR and have them fall on their @sses.

I cant believe that we are not going to give him a shot at qb

Uh we were but he wants to play now. Cannot do that at QB.

Deron wants to play ASAP. Maybe he knows more about the RW situation than most of us. Bottom line is, I think DF will excel on D. He'll contribute
more, sooner on D than at QB.
Everybody needs to believe in something.
I believe I'll have another beer. |

Bottom line is the dude likes to hit people...
|
You don't play guys like Furr at WR or QB. He likes to decleat people and will be a definite read for offenses when he is in the QB's eye.
