Sometimes that's all there is to it. BTW Silver, Saban cuts it close on infractions. He doesn't think twice about risking secondary violations and self reporting if he thinks he is gonna get caught. As long as they're secondary and self reported, nothing will happen. Hardly grassy knoll stuff. As far as USC is concerned, the NCAA won't touch 'em. The NCAA is now a pretty gutless group. They aren't gonna take anybody down because of the potential for lawsuits(thanks Bama), and lost revenue. Short of overwhelming proof of academic fraud, and or, recruiting violations, the NCAA isn't going after anybody. The conferences now have more power than the NCAA, at least where football is concerned, but the NCAA will flex it's muscle in other sports. I don't like Saban, he's a poor x's and o's coach, but a great motivator. He is also extremely pushy, insecure, and classless. Sounds like the average bammer to me, but these qualities make him a good recruiter, because he won't hesitate to go negative regarding his rivals, and pressuring kids to commit. Saban, like the old guard in T-Town, will always try to think of ways around the rules, they have no honor and view the rules to be in place to aid lazy coaches, instead of reigning in the overaggressive ones. On a level playing field, neither Saban, nor UA, can compete anymore. This fact has been proved over the last 25 years.
