TPT....1st stint at TCH 81-85. Second 87-91. UAB in between and PRN.
Flew all over the country...actually the world on Critical Care Transport, pickin up patients to bring back to TCH or UAB. Saudi, Canada, Mexico....amazing how far many people would come to have heart surgery at UAB. Fixed wing, high altitude transport is a whole new ballgame.

G-rad....I doubt nurses get that type training. They have enough to do without having to worry about the airway. From the neck up, the patient and the responsibility is mine....and the MD's These were anesthesia and Respiratory Therapy students.

Ethical question.
In a worst case scenario, where you lose a loved one in the Emergency Department. Especially a child. How would you feel if the staff asked permission to practice intubation on the now lifeless body, possibly saving future lives. This is the most realistic training possible yet most people would not be so quick to say "whatever helps other people" when it's a family member....even a dead family member... as opposed to an innocent live animal.


I'm outta here guys. Flyin to Philly for a show in DC tomorrow night and one at the Spectrum Saturday. You'll have to figure out who.
