If bama is a powerhouse because they have 6 to 12 championships then what does that make Yale who has 26?

Interesting question on rivals

Now that is one of the best questions I've read on this board. Can't wait to read what the Alabama fans and those bammers have to say.
By the way, Alabama fans and bammers are two totally different type of people. |

Do you have any thing at all that would prove your last post was anything but
wishful thinking?

Because Alabama was so great for so long. Alabama is a power house, people know about the Alabama Crimson Tide all over the country. We haven't been a
power house the past few years, and we will never be as dominant as we were during the 60's and 70's, but I believe we will begin to see a much
improved Alabama over the next couple of seasons. Alabama is just one of those powers though. I mean when you mention traditional powers you think Notre
Dame, USC, Nebraska, Penn State, Oklahoma, and a few others, but Alabama is one of those. (This isn't a knock on Auburn by any means) but Auburn is a
different type of power, they are not as well known, you guys have always kind of had the underdog mentality, but ya'll have fought with your toughness and
made a pretty considerable dent into the football landscape. Which is one reason I respect you guys.

Anybody who says UAT was not a powerhouse in the 60's and 70's is full of it. They were the dominant team in the SEC and one of a handful of teams
that pretty much ruled all of college football during that time. My hatred of them spawns from growing up in the 70's as an Auburn fan, and getting our
ass handed to us for 9 years. That being said, it is sad to me to see so many "bammers" clinging on to the notion that UAT is still a
"powerhouse". Until they win more than 6 regular season games, they will be a storied program that has fallen on hard times, nothing more.

Tider I agree with you to an extent

There were the teams that you mentioned, that comprise the old powers. That is a past that will never again exist, well as long as we have the parity we have
had for the last 25 years. The thing is, since the playing field was leveled, many of the teams you mentioned have only had minor success. The most successful
teams in what I call the modern era(post Bear and Woody), have a pretty different flavor. Auburn is in the top 10 in both total wins and winning % over that
span. UA is tied with Fresno St. for 18th in wins, and is 22nd in winning %. Auburn is really just starting to establish itself as one of the new football
powers. IMHO UA needs to get rid of Mal and Bear JR. need to go, in order for Bama to put the past behind them, and truly look to the future.
