Bobby Bowden or Joe Paterno? By the time the season kicks off, they'll be around 84 if not older.

I think that is the problem... | ||

Neither will retire because they want to beat the other. So, they will continue to run their respective football teams into the ground for their own vanity.
I read an article that said that Jo Pa very rarely goes to practice and only went to see one recruit last year. At least Bobby recruits!

I like Paterno's chances of coaching longer then Bowden. Its true that both men are not the coaches that they were years ago, but JoePa seems to have a
little gas in his tank and you don't read about a lot of his players getting in trouble with the law. The same does not hold true for diddy's thugs.

never been a Paterno fan --- his image has seemed to me a little "holier than thou", and the success he enjoyed the first 20-30 years as coach was a
result of playing weak schedules.

But you wouldn't agree that diddy has had a lot more problems with discipline? I mean every time you turn around, another F$U player get busted for
fighting, DUI, drugs, hitting girlfriends or many other things.

Actually TOW, it's the other way around the last few years. PSU players have gotten into far more trouble the last 2-3 years than FSU players.

I believe amiz is right about PSU players getting in trouble...
But I have said it before, JoePa and Daddy Bowden are just going to wait each other out, to see who blinks first. I honestly believe that the only reason either one of them is still coaching is to have the record for most wins. One will retire and the other one will stay for one more year to beat the record and then retire. However, JoePa isn't a spring chicken...I honestly think he might die on the sideline or in the middle of a season. But Daddy Bowden, I'm sure will get a job working for ESPN after retirement. What is weird is that JoePa refuses to sign a committment contract like Daddy Bowden...You know where they start lining up a replacement for when he retires. I honestly think that could hurt him, if PSU has a bad year...I could see JoePa being forced into retirement. |

I still say JoePa will out last Diddy. He's the better coach anyway.

Neither of these old men are going to throw in the towel and walk away. The one who dies first loses. It's as simple as that.

Just how long have they been where they are now? 40 years for each coach?

Jopa's been at PSU since '66. Bowden has been at f$u since '76.
