The check I mailed in yesterday was far from a refund. I am hoping to get something for my kid but that is all I expect from the economic incentive program.

This was the first year in about the last 20 that I actually got it just about right. I usually have to pay an additional few $K's but this year the IRS
owes me 9 whole dollars.
I pumped the maximum into my 401K, took out a Healthcare Savings Account, maxed out Mz. Biz's IRA, cleaned out every closet, the attic, basement, the garage, etc. and gave away almost $5,000 worth of old stuff, clothes, furniture, PCs, lawn mowers, TVs, stereos, sports equipment, bicycles, books, videos. etc. It amazing how much stuff a family of 4 can accumulate. Seriously, we gave away over 500 individual items of old stuff, still in good condition. Old PCs are worth about $180 - $200 each. I had 4 of them. Monitors are worth like $35 - $50. I had 4 of those. That's $1,000 of itemized deductions just in PCs. We had 4 formal Prom type dresses that we donated to an upscale charity shop and they valued them at $100 each, another $400 in itemized deductions.

I GOT A NICE REFUND... and then my washer and dryer went out and just HAD to be replaced with a damn front load set with steam settings... so much for new flat
screen and eliptical machine...
oh well.... 3k kiddie check comes next year!!

I filed form 4868 ... 6 month extensions .... I'll worry about taxes in October
