I just happened to run across a picture of a prospect named Ben Hicks who plays for Northside High School in Warner Robins, GA. I don't think the blue pants are ugly, I actually kind of like the look. I'm a strict traditionalist when it comes to AU, though, so I'd probably not like it if we changed. If we ever do change, I hope it is something as simple as wearing blue pants or orange jerseys, while keeping the exact same uniform layout (numbers, striping, logo, etc.) I think I'd cry a little (probably a lot) if we ever broke out with silly striping (like Miami, Maryland, Southern Miss, etc.) or if we changed our traditional block numbers to something like Boston College, Fla. State, etc. We are one of the dwindling number of teams that have kept our traditional uniforms. Although I don't particularly care for the teams, I respect the teams that have done so with us, like the bammers, Texas, Oklahomo, Penn St., etc. Florida hasn't changed their uni's greatly in the last 15 years or so, but before that it seems like they had a helmet a week. |

The only changes I wanna see is the removal of names off the jersey and all the dam corporate logos. Don't even like having AUBURN or Tigers on the
uni's. Leave the ugly A$$ orange to Tennessee and the colored britches to the Gaytors. WE ARE AUBURN! That's all I want us to be! If it ain't broke
don't fix it. We have the best looking uniforms, bar none, so don't screw with the color scheme. WDE from an old fart who knows who he is and what his
team is about. Fads come and go but real tradition is timeless.

Yeah, I'm with you, too, CatMan. I don't like the corporate names (under armour every six inches is silly); I don't like having the word Auburn on
the front - leave that to Oklahomo. I don't want any changes to our basic uniform (by basic, I mean white pants, white shirt or blue shirt, standard
stripes - does not include corporate logos, school name, etc.).
I don't worry too much about what I consider the accessories, as opposed to the main uniform. The main uniform consists of the pants, jersey, and helmet. If we wear black shoes, doesn't bother me too much, although I always thought the uni's looked sharper with white shoes. Same with pad color and facemask color. I never considered a change in facemask color as a change in uniform. I had no problem with orange facemasks and pads, but like the blue just as well or better. Seems like the NCAA has rules against some pads being colored anything other than white or gray. If the powers that be ever do make a change, I hope they keep our exact striping, structure, etc. I thought I was going to blow a gasket when Tater Totty put those ridiculous drop shadows on the numbers. |
