Payton would suck it up sometimes to if he didnt have recievers. Craig was a ONE man team. And your putting up guys we had in the 50's and 60's come on man. But really i shouldnt have to argue look at the stats they speak for them selves.

Lloyd Nix (he led us to a so-called mythical national championship) 6. Stan White 7. Patrick Nix 8. Jeff Burger 9. Phil Gargis (ran the veer like nobody's business) 10. Randy Campbell (the master at runnng the wishbone and led us to what should have been a national championship were there such a thing as a real national championship). Craig the best QB Auburn ever had? Not by a long shot. Craig was not the best, but I'll be damned if he wasn't my favorite of all time...the most frustrating and equally exciting QB I've ever witnessed in orange and blue. I appreciate the stats and the '94 win against UF but oh my did I HATE Pat Nix...may be biased, I just vividly remember UF his sr. year. We lost by 3-4 dozen and he threw 624 INT's that day, 623 in the red zone...12 years old, I swore that guy off for life. UF's fan section that day is a hated memory, they never sat down...we never stood up. No matter how much I , cant forget it! I really hate UF and show up in JAX wearing red and black (which I don't like much more) just for an extra chance every year to spite them... WDE!

Regardless, KOH, all of what you said is Probably most of us aren't proud of our "Tater Tot" years, but Craig is what kept us afloat. We didn't have much else than him, so our teams at that time didn't get much recognition, muchless Craig in order to get a high draft pick. I guarandamntee if we had been loaded at that time for which Craig had someone to throw to and someone to block for him, he would've been a top round draft pick. I'm not taking away from Campbell by any means, but surround him with talent like we had and a coaching staff like we had and he is a little above an average quarterback. There were alot of quarterbacks I'd have to take before Campbell, sorry. Campbell has improved drastically and "is" a great quarterback now, but like I said, an average or a little above average qb during his time at Auburn. Heck, the boy went thru 3 OC's while he was there. As for making1st team all SEC or All-American teams? Your right, he didn't make 'em. Why? He didn't have the team to have the stats. You look at his stats and given what he was surrounded by and they're probably pretty good, considering. Miss St game? Bammer game? Hell, blame those on Tater! Not saying he's the "best" we ever had, but he's up there as far as one of our best. Now about my man Craig! And lay off of Dye!! Guys, I think we may have a Bammer is disguise! It still hangs in my wife's closet in case we go to a game, she can wear it. I loved watching the guy play - and he alone made those mid to late 90's bearable as an AU fan.

Flounder Posts: 46 (02/29/08 08:38:34) Flounder Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	The one thing I remember vividly about watching Craig play was, every time he got flushed out of the pocket and started scrambling around in the backfield, you just knew that something amazing was about to happen. I remember several times where I thought he was gonna be sacked for a 15 or 20-yard loss, and he ended up getting free headed toward the sideline and would let loose a 30-40 yard completion and JH were just explode!
