With most recruits commiting early these days. Does anyone think the NCAA will do something like basketball and have an early signing period. Last year when signing day was nearing it seemed like some schools put the full court press on recruits. I don't know what happened with George Baker or the Fortson, but it might have been avoided if there was a early signing period in place.

I think February is plenty early enough already to commit where you go to college in September. A lot of these kids are under 18 and still need parental cosignatures on their LOIs as it is. I think pushing these kids to make the decision any sooner is just wrong and really unneccessary. |

Can't we sign juco players in Dec? maybe that's our early signing period in the eyes of the NCAA. I really don't see the NCAA giving two dates to
sign high school players. Wish we could though.

Football is a far more physical sport than any other, especially in high school. The schools would run a big risk signing a player before he plays his senior
season. IMHO, the player would have a tendency to try to avoid injuries, and when you do that playing football, you actually have a greater risk of being hurt.
