All I did was start a thread that contradicted what the main stream press is spewing and someone turns it into a "Psychos with machine guns" discussion. Everyone of us on this board could be labeled as unfit for some reason or the other regardless whether or not we served in the military.

I guess it could be geographical location or something but in at least 15 years of firefighting I have come to know the law enforcement around here personaly. The local guys, the county deputies ( they come and go frequently) and the state troopers.

The number of ex-military law enforcement officers over this time is maybe 10% across the board.

In my personal observations, and experiences, I prefer to deal and or work with...

You are correct as far as law enforcement goes. However, most of the problems with law enforcement come from officers who weren't military, but were wannabes. These guys are the most gung ho of all. Most of the ex-military cops I know are more likely to be more self confident, and less likely to use unnecesary force. BTW, what are you going through Glencoe at 3:00 am for? Well, 'Patch, if you compare the crime rate of military personnel - especially the murder rate which is somewhere around 1/5 that of the general population - then a slightly different picture emerges, doesn't it? Perhaps, solely based on those numbers of course, we ought to run everyone through a stint of active duty. And, believe it or not, even trigger pullers learn other skills that are valuable in the job market.
