			<description><![CDATA[ <p>The NCLB act does have some good ideas, and I do not think all LD children should be seperated from the normal classroom, evidence of this is just like
AUpaster&#39;s story. I have a cousin whom was placed in special ed, but to meet him on the street you wouldn&#39;t think he had a LD. However, I will say from
my wife&#39;s experience as a teacher that it has many flaws. One of which is when they place a student with major disabilities, that disrupts the classroom

			<description><![CDATA[ I would bet that your daughter will be happy, regardless of what she does. Having supportive parents goes a long way toward well adjusted children. My youngest
is a dwarf and while there are no motor delays, she has some physical  and speech problems. I am sure that we both love our children and push them to be the
best they can be. The reward is the smile on their face when they meet a goal, or adapt to a problem on their own. ]]></description>

of music.  That&#39;s what makes genetics so fascinating to me.  How someone can LEGALLY be mentally handicapped, yet create such works of genius.

			<description><![CDATA[ Grad I saw something on the science channel about this girl/woman whose IQ was 50 and she was musically gifted and had perfect pitch. She could not do simple
math but could sing opera. Her parents were mentally gifted and both had advanced degrees and I learned a lot about being a father by watching this PH D father
go over something simple( like making change for a dollar if you bought a candy bar) repetitively with his adult daughter with patience and understanding. But

			<description><![CDATA[ My wife teaches kindergarten and in her case she says some of the worst behavior is from the smarter children(not always but it does happen). The hidden factor
in these examples is the child waking up and wanting to do better. I think I would be way more inclined to help a child who wanted to do better and was doing
all they were capable of rather than one who could do much better and was just creating problems for everyone else. As Gchabo alluded to it is not a simple

language, but I will share something with you. All the way through the 3rd grade I was a &quot;trailer kid.&quot; I didn&#39;t live in a trailer, that was
where the LD kids would be shipped out to every day after roll was taken for special attention and counselling. I barely made it through junior high and

			<description><![CDATA[ Mainstreaming goes back way before NCLB.  <em>Since my dad was a guidance counselor</em>, I recall them breaking up the special ed classes in Alabama back when
I was in 6th grade(?).  I don&#39;t think he was a big fan of the idea but the AEA (and the NEA) had their own ideas.

			<description><![CDATA[ I have no problem with holding parents responsible for their children. I also believe that weak parenting creates a host of problems. I see crappy
parenting first hand as a teacher. Example 1: Today I arrived at school and found out that a parent complained that I gave a consequence to their child for his
behavior. He stole Candy out of the treat box and filled my spray bottles with modeling clay. Instead of giving the kid a consequence, the vice principal spent
30 minutes kissing up to the... ]]></description>
