FOrester what is your problem!! you must comply with the agenda!!!! GLobal warming is a fact. Just ask AL GOre as he jets around emitting much CO2. DOnt give a plausible explanation for the shelf collapsing besides global warming. NO matter that "calving" and avalanches are both caused by increased weight rather than melting. ALso you must use the alarmist tone that this article uses wiht words like shocking, vast and rapid.

My last report I have read noted that the ice thickness in the Antartic is thicker than ever recorded!! If an out side layer was increasing in size (thickness), wouldn't it cause a strain by the increased weight and could cause it the break away?? Just a thought!!

Thanks for that link, N2. Peiser's comments make much more sense now. If I read him correctly, he believes that we are in a warming period and while that the consensus of the majority is that it is at least partially attributed to man, it is not unanimous.
